As a member of the Middle School Science Curriculum Cadre, I have helped to develop learning targets and curriculum resources for our new standards, as well as facilitate professional development for both middle and high school teachers. I have participated in several Math and Science Partnership grants to develop further awareness of the NGSS and the pedagogical shifts required to implement these standards with fidelity. My familiarity with the K-12 Framework for Science Education and the NGSS will allow me to continue to support teachers in utilizing best practices for teaching these new standards. I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Young Adolescent Science and was selected as a 2017 Nevada state finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. I served as the NSSTA Region 1 president for NSSTA for the 2017-2018 School Year.I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiological Science with an emphasis in Sports Injury Management and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. When out of the classroom I enjoy hiking and backpacking with my husband and Staffordshire Terrier mix or working in the garden while hanging out with my two chickens and desert tortoise.
