Sean Hill – Region II Representative
Sean has been a Northern Nevada educator since 2010, and is committed to helping strengthen our educational community. Originally from Colorado, he went to school in Montana, and loved the similar outdoor opportunities, climate, and elevation that the Reno area has to offer. His undergraduate degree is a B.S. In Environmental Biology, and Sean has an MS is in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources. He worked in a climate lab in college, collecting and analyzing tree-cores and the forest climate history in the Rocky Mountain and Sierra Nevada ranges. Sean has taught HS Physical Sciences in a high school in Houston, TX, while a part of the Teach for America program, and has been professionally involved with informal science education for 10 years. Sean has coordinated the NGSS Bootcamp Professional Development conference for Nevada’s teachers for the last 3 years, and is the Nevada State Coordinator for the Project Learning Tree program, a national environmental science curriculum and PD program for teachers. Sean has two small boys and is passionate about science education, particularly in the elementary grades. Sean expresses “This is the perfect time to get kids hooked on STEM!” Sean is the Education Director with Sierra Nevada Journeys, a non-profit committed to building our next generation of scientists, leaders and stewards.
