Field Trip Teachers on the Big Island of Hawaii
This past spring/summer, we witnessed an extraordinary eruption on the Big Island of Hawaii. Join us in 2019 as we travel to the Big Island to study its eruption. During this trip, you will walk across a volcanic caldera, visit green and black sand beaches, snorkel, see green sea turtles, map a lava cave, calculate the volume of lava flows, map a volcanic event, identify and collect volcanic samples such as ash, cinders, scoria, and others, record and collect data, keep a field notebook, and much, much more! You will also receive classroom activities to use. This trip is open to all K-12 science educators, as well as pre-service science educators.
